Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse

Lyon's covered food hall opened in 1971 in the La Part-Dieu district, replacing the city's original 1859 market at Place des Cordeliers. A 2004 renovation expanded it to roughly 13,500 square metres over three floors, and in 2006 the city renamed it after chef Paul Bocuse, a near-daily shopper here for his own three-Michelin-star kitchen. Close to 60 stalls and small restaurants trade in aged cheese, charcuterie, pastries, chocolate and seafood, making it the reference point for Lyon's reputation as a centre of French gastronomy.
