About
Cours Saleya has hosted a market in Nice's old town since 1816, and from 1897 it briefly became the world's first wholesale flower market, sending carnations by rail across Europe. Tuesday to Sunday the long square still fills with stalls selling flowers, Provençal produce, olives, herbs and local specialties, while on Mondays it switches to an antiques and brocante market. Cafés and restaurants line both sides, and it's ranked among France's most picturesque markets, as much a place locals shop as a tourist landmark.
