About
On rue Major Martin since 1872, Cafe des Federations is one of Lyon's longest-running bouchons -- the small family-style restaurants that grew out of inns once used by silk traders passing through the city. Its modern identity took shape after the Second World War, and by tradition each owner has run the place for roughly twenty years before handing it on. Red-checked tablecloths and sausages hanging from the ceiling frame a menu of Lyonnais classics -- quenelles, andouillette, saladier lyonnais. It marked its 150th anniversary in 2022 and was voted the city's best authentic bouchon in 2019-2020.
